FEATURES & LIFESTYLE

Once in a while a we list a property which is so special and enchanting that it challenges the writer to try to do it justice! This home on almost one and a half acres is one of those properties. So please forgive me if I wax a little bit lyrical as I try to convey that special ambience that is so much more than just the sum of its features, which are indeed in abundance.

This visually beautiful home in its perfect surroundings is located on the southern side of Mount Tamborine where it is well removed from the heavy tourist traffic yet close to St Bernards Hotel and State School as well as the new pre-school. Even better, it is within a couple of minutes walk of a good restaurant for day and night time dining. The good quality red soil block slopes gently down from the rear boundary towards the north and still retains many of its original native trees. The long boundary to Power Parade is well planted with vegetation for privacy and the gated entrance driveway comes in at the rear of the home close to the separate double garage. Once inside that driveway, you get a feeling that you have been transported to a magical secluded setting where peace and beauty reign supreme. There are open lawns, trees, shrubs and fruit trees all hidden in the back garden along with a pretty wishing well painted in the same tones as the home as well as an archway leading to the wide paved paths all around the home.

Turn right through the archway then left under the protection of the upper level balcony and head to the front door. That door is not some gleaming modern model, but a charming antique with multi-toned opaque glass that opens into the entry foyer that then spills you into the great living room with exposed brick end walls broken with antique cream windows at either end and a wonderful timber ceiling with light flowing through its clerestory windows. Its long north facing wall is filled with glass that opens out onto the huge paved outdoor living area surrounded by flowering plants and shrubs with its big pergola. Your first temptation is to step right out into the filtered sunlight and expose all your senses to the environment beyond, but first take time to explore the home. Take in the near new kitchen with its rows of soft close drawers, corner pantry and 2 drawer dishwasher. Notice the feature tiling behind the 5 burner gas cook top and the cleverly concealed rangehood as well as the instant hot water tap fitted to the double sink. Then turn back and look out over the part wall above the kitchen bench which lets you chat to visitors without them looking onto the mess you are making.

Now it is time to do a little more exploring to see the great family living area and the good sized tiled laundry with its door opening out to a paved path with clothes line beyond. Then it time to go up those light filled timber stairs to the top level which we will call “the family sleeping and ablutions area”. At the top of the landing there is room for an easy chair, some bookcases, a desk or possibly a piano where the tones will be mellowed by bouncing off that raked timber ceiling. Big, big bedrooms with timber floors and picture windows are the feature here, but the master bedroom is extra large and has a set of ranch sliders opening to its own north facing balcony that overlooks the entire pool area and front yard. The bathrooms are a good size and the main bathroom comes with separate toilet. As you turn to go back down the stairs, you’ve already noted that every window here takes in a different and delightful view.

At the bottom of the stairs you turn back towards the front door, but head on in to see the granny flat, a perfect place for visitors or a home for the older members of the family. The bedroom includes a sitting area opening out to the front garden as well a double door built-in robe and space for other furniture as well. It shares the roomy ensuite with the ground floor and also the adjoining home office which is no small room either. This entire area could easily be turned into self-contained accommodation for older folk who want to be part of the family while retaining their independence.

But, we’ve saved the best part for last! The gardens and the ever so inviting pool basking in dappled sunlight is another world again that makes you feel if you are wandering on a tropical island somewhere. You look back up along the paved path leading from the pool to the house to see the expanse of solar panels that keep the pool at the right swimming temperature way beyond the normal seasonal changes then you look back to the lawns and trees beyond. Yes! There is that feeling of a tucked away resort lifestyle here that is re-enforced by the masses of colourful shrubs and flowering things that combine to keep the garden bright and alive throughout the year.

O.K.! I’ve said enough! If you want your family to enjoy living in a beautiful home with all the comforts in a gentler environment, this property will fulfil your wildest dreams.
