FEATURES & LIFESTYLE

Bateke Road is a is a long established residential acreage locality on the southern end of Tamborine Mountain where properties on either side of the street are all built on minimum 1 acre red soil blocks. Most of the homes on the high side of the street have excellent Gold Coast views, as has this excellent home set well back from the street frontage on top of the ridge looking out between dramatic tree clad hillsides onto the southern end of the Gold Coast and ocean with Burleigh Heads forming a central part of the view on a clear day. This area of the Mountain is quiet and well removed from the tourist frequented areas, yet handy to facilities including the primary school and the golf club as well as St, Bernards Hotel and local corner store.

The moment you pull up in the street, your eyes are drawn to the lovely gardens and the bitumen driveway lined by clumps of agapanthus winding up between lawns and trees to the green roofed cream home with its attached double garage at the top of the ridge. You really can’t see a great deal of the home from the street angle, but you will probably notice that there is the extra colourbond double garage with its own water tank snugged into a clump of huge trees on the northern side of the driveway about halfway up. When some of the recently planted young trees get some more growth, even that will likely become invisible! Tall waving palms up on the house level seem to accentuate the sense that this is a gorgeous tropically inspired garden with that lovely country feeling.

When your car pulls up onto the bitumen apron / visitor parking area in front of the garage, the first thing that will take your eye is the superb paved courtyard rose garden and its Florentine style central fountain. Two paved pathways lead to the covered, well lit and lined verandahs that take you to the impressive timber and leadlight entry door with its matching side panels. When the front door opens you are ushered into a tiled central room with coffered ceilings that functions as both a foyer and a formal lounge room. The lounge room in turn opens out to the huge rear outdoor entertaining deck and looks out to the back gardens to the views.

As you move from the lounge to the double glass and timber doors that lead into the vast family living, you will notice that all living and walking areas are uniformly tiled in large warm cream toned tiles. Later on, you will find that these floor tiles are matched in the bathrooms and also in the apartment. The real living happens in the wonderful open plan area with its formal dining space that can easily handle a long 8 seater suite, a lovely lounge area and its informal dining spot with views in a sunny corner beyond the kitchen. It would be hard to fault this excellent Tassie oak kitchen with its huge island bench, walk-in pantry and cooking centre with stainless steel range hood covering the ducted exhaust. The kitchen also has a coffered ceiling and excellent lighting that most of us can only dream of having over our kitchen benches. All areas of the informal living look out over the gardens through floor length colonial bar windows to the views and the gas log fire is perfectly positioned to keep the entire area warm in winter.

All the bedrooms are carpeted and the master suite, really is a King size bedroom with space for easy chairs and extra furniture. The ensuite is all neutral tonings and functional in design. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are both generous doubles and both have built-in robes as well as delightful garden outlooks. The main bathroom with shower recess and separate tub is matched in tonings with the ensuite so that you can choose any colour decor items you like to add that personal touch. Even the extra large laundry has the same tiled floor. And, you will find this is a well planned laundry with ample storage cupboards and linen closet.

A covered walkway and an intercom system links the apartment and home together and makes it easy to function as a part of a single family home, for larger families. The apartment has a good sized open plan living looking out into the gardens, a decent sized kitchenette that just needs a stove to set it up fully, 2 double bedrooms both with built-in robes, ensuite style bathroom and its own laundry. It would be ideal for the grandparents, young marrieds who don’t want to leave home, or live-in house and garden caretakers. It would also suit people wishing to work from home or running a low level consultancy business. The built-in vacuum system and back-to-base security caters for both the home and the apartment.

I can not stress enough how absolutely perfectly maintained and loved this whole property really is. Everything looks and feels like new inside and as previously stated, the garden is simply an easily maintained country beauty. I have chosen the best 20 photos to whet your desire to see it, but assure you this home deserves your personal inspection.
