Knoll Road is one of those very old Mountain streets that seems to have a certain magic about it. Maybe it is because this little street has so many native trees along the road verges which are quite wide in some parts, e.g. the part where this home is situated. Just a couple of minutes walk to the south of this home and you are at the police station where the road divides and becomes Main Street. Turn north when you come out of your garden and you can walk to The Knoll National Park in less than 5 minutes. If you don’t want to go off from there following a walking trail, there are picnic tables just begging you to sit and enjoy the beauty of nature all around you. Fish in your pockets for a few scraps of bread or nearly anything and many friendly birds will sidle up full of optimism - they are used to enjoying the scraps provided by picnickers here.

You note the temperature in here is comfortable, no matter what nature is saying outside and look up to see the air conditioner. What you don’t see, is that the ceiling contains poly insulation and that there is also a whirlybird heat extractor on the roof to keep the home comfortable and save you from spending too many dollars on air conditioning on hot summer days or chilly winter nights. You notice that the dining area is semi separate and that the roomy kitchen has high return benches so that the cook’s mess is nicely kept out of sight from both the dining and the sitting areas. You also notice that the door out of the kitchen leads directly into the laundry with tiled floor and good sized storage cupboard.

Then you go exploring. You discover that the spacious main bedroom has security screened ranch sliders that open out to that easterly facing paved terrace and that there is a walk-in robe here as well as an ensuite bathroom with tan coloured floor tiles that seem to absorb the traces of Tamborine Mountain red soil that you brought in from the garden. You discover 2 more bedrooms, both with security screened ranch sliders opening out onto the back verandah. Then you find the main bathroom, cleverly designed so that someone can be in the toilet, someone cleaning their teeth at the stylish modern vanity and someone else taking a shower or bath at the same time. Here those great coloured floor tiles have been used again and, like the ensuite, the balance of the decor is in soft neutral apricot shades.

Of course, the real temptation is to get out onto the back verandah and look out over the trees and rainforest beyond. NO! There aren’t any rear neighbours here, just some open pasture and rainforest to enjoy. It is only when you step out onto the verandah that you notice the big colourbond shed hiding on the back lawn. This is a real workshop or great big storage area, whichever happens to fit with your lifestyle. Then you get to see how easy the back yard is to maintain as well as how pretty it is.
