Quiet enjoyment and exceptional privacy are just 2 of the many attractions of this exceptionally well built home that is at ground level on the street side and well elevated on brick piers at the rear. Very tall solid fences and long established gardens typified by the high front hedge and mature palms create a secluded living environment on the well shaped ¼ acre block with 21 metre front and rear boundaries. The back boundary adjoins the marvellous wilderness that is Witches Chase National Park where birds and other wildlife abound. The home has softly glowing solid hardwood timber floors throughout, except for the rumpus room which has a concrete slab floor, and wonderfully big picture windows for those garden and rainforest views.
We say it is very well built because in the early 1990s, the then fairly new home was purchased using a War Service loan. Those loans were only granted to returned service people after a stringent building inspection intended to weed out any home that did not meet the very high standards set by the Federal Government authorities in order to ensure that the veterans would be purchasing trouble free homes. We real estate agents quivered in fright when a buyer said they were approved for a War Service loan and had to have their contract subject to that loan approval, because we knew just how many houses failed to meet their standards!
It is an open and informal home in keeping with our modern lifestyle and the air conditioned, long open plan living opens directly out on the National Park end through wide double glass doors to the large and recently added rear verandah. The kitchen with its big corner pantry is quite generously sized and has plenty of storage and bench space. It is the original kitchen, but has only ever had the best of care from the home’s resident owners. From 1992 until 1999 it was lived in by an elderly retired couple and since then it has been home to a very house proud lady who shared it with her now adult son. Both the big back verandah and the all new and sparkling bathroom have been added in recent years while the second toilet in the laundry has just been replaced and retiled. All the bedrooms have built-in robes and there are actually 3 exits from the house, one via the rumpus room, one at the top of the front entry ramp and the third via the verandah which has steps down to the inground concrete water tank in the rear garden.
The fully lined rumpus room with unusual double hung long windows, is a couple of steps down from the main floor and was originally a long double lock-up garage. The garage door was long ago replaced by a set of security screened ranch sliders and would ideally suit anyone who wanted to have a home studio or office as it has a full concrete pathway already leading from the driveway to that door. A separate lock-up brick garage was installed to replace the original and later on, the steel double carport was added. A securely lockable high gate on the boundary line with the street bars uninvited guests from intruding on your tranquility. There is also a reasonably high brick wall that runs from the front of the separate garage across towards the main entry ramp which forms a privacy wall for the paved outdoor living area that is roofed over to keep the summer sun from intruding on the BBQ party. That area has a most restful vista down over the garden to the rainforest as well.
Manitzky Street is one of those rare little, slightly winding, streets going nowhere. It takes off from a bend in Main Western Road and ends against a lovely treed grassy area that forms part of the National Park just a couple of hundred metres beyond where this home is located. There are good walking paths running both directions along Main Western Road and the north bound path is just a perfect gentle walk away from Lane Realty’s office and all the facilities of the North Tamborine Village area.
