If you are one of those families who thinks renovating is fun, read no further! This home where everything has been done, is not for you. But it will most certainly appeal to people who hate the thought of renovating. As is often the case in any area, the best blocks in a development are quickly sold and built on. This elevated block with northerly winter sunshine streaming into the rear was snaffled up by a retiring couple somewhere over 30 years ago and they built a good, solid Jennings brick and tile home with very large picture windows on it. They then lived there for many years while planting trees and shrubs for beauty and cool shady havens.
As we all know, fashions change and this home was well and truly ready for a total makeover when the current owners purchased it. Indeed, the change has been so dramatic, that it is impossible to recognise the once drab and dowdy interiors that are now sparkling fresh and new in every aspect, right from the new set of double entry doors. Even the outside has been bagged in a soft mustard tone to complement the warm red-brown tones of the tiled roof which appears to have been maintained in perfect condition throughout the life of the home. The new doors open to a wide tiled walkway that is open to the lounge room and proceeds through a door into the dining and kitchen. The balance of the home, except for the standard wet areas, has fresh new carpet on the floors with all new recessed lighting shining down onto the carpets.
The new kitchen with double door pantry and a full complement of overhead cupboards boasts an under bench stainless steel electric oven, stainless steel gas hot plates and matching stainless steel rangehood plus a stainless steel 1.5 bowl sink. The white splash back tiling has a contrasting vertical tile feature behind the cook top. There is also an ample supply of new power points, which all cooks know is absolutely essential in any kitchen. Well positioned spotlighting focuses down onto the cooking area and a space has been left ready to take a dishwasher whenever you want to install it.
There is a 2-door linen cupboard in the hallway and the main bedroom is quite spacious. All 3 bedrooms have large picture windows that bounce natural light in to reflect off the pale cream walls. Even the study / TV room has a near floor length window in it. Contrasting tones of black and white have been teamed with silver toned fittings and a brushed stainless steel framed shower cubicle for a light and sharp modern look. The all new toilet has also been tiled in the black and white combo and even the laundry has been fully retiled to match.
This home on its high corner block is well screened on all sides by a wonderful combination of shrubs and trees that includes both natives and ornamentals. The original owners knew just how dry it could get at times, so instead of installing just i water tank, they installed 2 tanks, which between them hold around 12,000 gallons of rainwater storage to tide you over those rare dry springs such as this one.
