Come meet a not quite completed dream home that seems to have much to offer the handyman or a person in the building or allied trades. The dream is hardly conventional! There seems to be an unusual mix of Bali and the Mediterranean here in this 4 bedroom ensuite home with these differing inspirations leading the theme in various parts of the home. And, it is almost unfair to call it “unfinished”. Much of it is completely finished, like the 3 bedrooms, 2 living areas, bathroom and kitchen, all on the main level. There is still some work to be done on the big partly covered patio, but it doesn’t appear to be beyond the scope of a handyman. The same seems to apply to other outdoor work too. Experience with a paint brush seems to be a number one requirement along with some experience with plastering.
What remains not quite finished is the new level. It is quite usable, including the ensuite bathroom, but there appears to be a fair amount of plastering and painting required in the stairwell and in the parents’ retreat / open study area. All the fittings have been installed in the ensuite and the tiling has been completed. The plaster work is still unpainted and the lovely bedroom with its 2 sets of solid timber and glass doors is clearly waiting for someone to add some finishing to the plaster work and give it a final coat of paint. Overall, any family can live quite comfortably here while completing the remaining work required.
And what will you own when it is finished? It will be a unique and quite practical 2 level home hidden up on an extra large terraced and tree filled block in a quiet, tiny little cul-de-sac where there is not much lawn to mow and lots of beautiful big palm trees. The huge tiled family living and dining room that opens out through multiple sets of glass and timber doors to the equally huge outdoor living is already quite magnificent and does have a real charm and character to it as the photos indicate. The formal lounge / media room also has glass and timber doors that open out into the garden, but it has a different ambience, a much more warm and cosy feeling to it. The kitchen is spacious light and practical with plenty of bench space and storage as well as usual appliances including a dishwasher. Air conditioning makes the home comfortable for living in all seasons. The open stairwell leading to the upper level with its excellent garden view glass will surely be impressive when finished and the entire upper level should end up quite stunning and very comfortable.
It is obvious that we can only comment on the things we actually see, but from what we can see, the finishing off here is not going to be very expensive, but rather, a bit time consuming. The garden really doesn’t need much attention at all. Maybe some better steps here and there and maybe a few more colourful plantings in those lovely rock terrace walls, otherwise the mix of nature and nurture seems to be doing an excellent job of providing both excellent privacy and green tropical beauty. Just sit back on the patio at night and listen to the breeze stirring in the palm fronds.
