Enchanting! Elegant! Enthralling! These are just some of the words that come to mind when you view this sensational and luxurious multi level pole home that offers an incredibly relaxed, almost tropical island feeling. Polished timber floors and raked ceilings add their special tone to the interiors while wonderful verandahs and decks suggest a kicked back lifestyle. And we do mean verandahs and decks! In all, there are 5 covered or part covered verandahs that encompass all points of the globe so that there is a choice of special sunny protected spots for cooler days and shaded breezy decks for warm summer days. Every verandah has a view. The lower decks look out into the magical gardens while the large top level deck takes in a wide view out over the Gold Coast to the sea.
As I mentioned in the introduction, there are 3 lounge areas in this unique home. First there is the entry level lounge with its slow combustion wood fire. Then there is the middle level, family sitting / TV area adjacent to the kitchen and the formal dining room. This lovely living looks out over a deck to the gardens. But the most superb lounge is right up at the top level adjoining the master suite. You could probably call it the perfectly sophisticated parents’ retreat. Of course it looks out over the top level deck right out to the Gold Coast views.
The formal dining area is large and beautiful with 2 sets of matching French doors opening out east and north facing decks for cool flowing breezes even on a summer’s day. There are also a couple of charming breakfast nooks on the kitchen level. One of these breakfast nooks is positioned in front of a porthole window facing towards the east. This should must be the most perfect place to take breakfast on those rare very cool winter mornings when being out on a deck is not where you would want to be.
As the photos show, the master suite is indulgent luxury here and plenty large enough to include lounging space although it does not need it because it already has the fabulous lounge adjoining it. This softly carpeted bedroom opens out through sliding glass doors to a serene covered deck that sweeps around to the front to become a large sun deck from where the views enchant through day and night. A stunning new ensuite bathroom and a large walk-in robe complete life at the top here.
As glorious as the home is, the gardens are its crowning glory. Creating these gardens has been a work of almost 2 decades. While the closer in gardens around the house may look impressive, they have been designed for easy care and maintenance with plantings to enhance the various paved terraces including the wonderful private and protected “Florentine” terrace which looks back out through the trees to the huge rear landscaped garden with its permanent creek all superbly landscaped with a young rainforest glade beyond. The creek has many features and also provides a never ending supply of water for all those outdoor and garden needs.
