Barry joined our team in August 1998 and very quickly proved the value of his
previous 18 years working in the real estate industry in Western Australia. Barry is a fully
licensed real estate agent.

Most men would find it difficult working in a sales team that was female dominated but it doesn’t
bother Barry in the least. His great sense of humour coupled with a decidedly philosophical outlook
on life makes him the ideal male to work in an office full of women. “Chook” is simply
one of those roosters who’s feathers don’t get ruffled. He thrives on challenges and
enjoys being busy.
Around 9 years ago Barry decided to check out the East Coast of Australia while driving around
the country and stumbled on Mount Tamborine. He fell in love with this lush green scenic area that
contrasted so greatly with the farming country of WA where he grew up. That was the end of his
exploratory journey. He had not intended to go back into real estate, but discovered that there
was a very special agency right on the Mountain that offered the type of working environment and
proactive approach to marketing that made the move back into the industry seem right. He came in
and introduced himself, but at that time the “No Vacancy” sign was up. Barry is incredibly
patient! He knew a vacancy would occur if he waited, and it did.
He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and experience to his work and quickly picked up that
essential local area knowledge that allows him to assist buyers to make the right choice for their
future. Barry’s calm and serene approach to life ensures that buying a home or a vacant lot
does not become a stressful experience for his clients.
Barry is a quiet achiever who really enjoys what he does. He is an excellent listener who spend
time with his clients to make sure he understands their desires and wants so he can match them
up with the house of their dreams. Nothing is too much trouble for Barry. He goes that “extra
mile” to make home buying a pleasurable experience and his clients quickly become his friends.
Barry’s move east has been a very successful one for himself, his chosen office and his
clients. Comparison with industry benchmark standards indicates that Barry rates in the top 10%
of Queensland sales people. This is no mean feat when he is working in an essentially confined
small locality like Tamborine Mountain where the opportunity to expand the area of operation is
firmly constrained by the geography of the locality.
Sellers & buyers get equally high service from Barry. Judy Rieck, whose home Barry recently
listed & sold, commented to Helen South that she had never appreciated the amount of work & dedication
that went into selling real estate until she saw how hard Barry worked on the sale & the thought & care
which he put into looking after both themselves as sellers & also the buyers.
